Waxing pre and post care

Waxing is a great alternative to shaving and in our opinion should be the top choice for those who are seeking smooth, soft and hairless skin. It can be daunting what to do prior, in-between and post waxing so we have created some tips as a guide to help you.

Pre-appointment

· Try not to consume any caffeine prior to your appointment as you can cause increase sensitivity.

· If you have a low pain tolerance, you may take an Advil etc 1-hr – 30-minutes prior to your appointment.

· Exfoliate your skin 24-48hrs prior to your appointment, this will make the hairs loose and easier to remove, causing less irritation.

· Shower before your appointment, the soap or body wash can cause irritation to the areas waxed.

In between:

- Be sure to exfoliate and moisturize your skin

Aftercare – post appointment

For the next 24-48hrs hours it is best to avoid:

· Touching the area without using good hand washing techniques;it will lessen the chance of infection.

· Taking a shower, bathing, sauna right afterward; it is best to wait 24 hrs prior to showering however you can shower 4-6hrs after the wax. ( please be mindful soaps, body wash, moisturizers may cause irritation)

· Wearing tight clothes during the day: This can aggravate the skin because the clothing can scratch or rub the skin.

· Sun bathing: this may cause discomfort and can lead it hyperpigmentation

· Exercise or go to the gym: It is important to refrain from any activity that causes sweat. It can be very painful and can clog the pores.

· Sex after a Brazilian or Hollywood waxing: Pain and discomfort can come from the area being rubbed. It can lead to irritation and soreness.

· Using sprays, perfume, lotion, or deodorants: Wait a few days to use any lotions with perfume, and any perfume, spray, or deodorants that could irritate the skin. This includes spray tans.

Notes:

Always be aware that you may have loose or regrowth of hair, it will take a few waxing sessions to ensure the hair grows at a slower pace. Any loose hairs that are left over may be from eliminating over waxing, which can increase hyperpigmentation and cause irritation to the skin.
